About us

Our story began in 2009 in the NICU, after the birth of our 3rd child. Spending countless hours by an isolet with a baby attached to numerous leads was new for us and filled with feelings of fear, anxiety and 'what ifs'.  Every moment Mya wasn't being fed or allowed to be held, Allison would be sitting beside her knitting or crocheting something tiny. This became a huge stress relief.  Daren, a Nurse, would be trying to spy the Doctors' notes to translate their scribbles into English for us...and to see how soon we could go home. We spent 11 weeks total in hospital including a few surgeries. Nurses and other moms would see the tiny little hats and suggested we start selling them. We set up a site within a few weeks of getting home and listed a few hats that sold out on the first day.

Our products started with just preemie and newborn sizes. At the start we set out to learn everything we could about preemie and newborn clothes and sizing. Research has shown that being able to dress up your preemie and newborn baby improves bonding between mom and baby, and this helps your baby grow. It's a scary thing to see your little one in a tangled mess of leads and lines. Dressing them up...even a simple bow or accessory, can make a huge difference. Clothing on a baby brings comfort for mom and our NICU adapted clothing allows you to dress premature babies... as tiny as 1 pound!

Our hearts will always have the most special place for Preemie clothes and accessories. It's where we began, but Tayva + Tess has grown much larger than that now. We have bows, headbands, accessories for older kids and moms too. We plan to expand into Gift Boxes and matching dog accessories soon too!

Our family of 9 is on a mission is to help support NICU families in any way we can. We take great joy in giving back to the NICU.  Our goal is to provide excellent products and service to families with new babies, and to support these families by various means, including praying for any concerns they have for their little ones as they grow.  The memories that stand out most from our NICU experience, 14 years later, were the random acts of kindness from complete strangers. Notes of encouragement, a homemade quilt, a giant stuffed puppy and many little hairbows. Each of these meant so much to us and are keepsakes today. We plan to add 'give back' options on our site soon for other NICU families to have a chance to give back to their NICU too.
